Hostel accommodation and transportation pacage at the largest festival in Europe. Oktoberfest has been dazzling Munich for centuries. Each year, millions of people from all over the world descend upon Munich in search of liter steins of beer, tables to sing and dance on, hearty German food, and carnival rides spinning into the night.

Bus2alps takes you to and from the celebration with accommodation at the top rated hostel in Munich at Jaeger’s Hostel, located in the city center.

Detailed Itinerary

*Note: There will be a Bus2alps information table set up in the lobby of our accommodation throughout the weekend with a trip leader present to answer any questions and assist you.

Day 1

The trip departs Rome from the Roma Termini train station at 20:00*. The meeting point is in front of the Nike store at the front of the train station. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel to Munich is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and toilet. We play DVDs through the duration of the trip. Estimated travel time is 12 hours**. We will arrive in Munich at approximately 8:00*. Upon arrival to Munich, we will immediately check into our hostel.

Day 2 

Friday morning the insanity starts. We highly recommend heading to the grounds where the festival is held called the Theresienwiese. The campsite provides 2 - 3 free daily shuttles to the festival grounds in the morning, and 2 - 3 return shuttles at night. Those of you interested in heading to the festival as a group, meet your Trip Leader at the entrance to the campsite at 10:00. Oktoberfest is a giant festival, with rides, games, and beer tents. There are 14 tents of varying sizes. Tent capacities range from 1,000 to 10,000 people. Your Bus2alps Trip Leader will bring you to the Hofbrau tent, one of the most popular tents at the festival. Once inside, enjoy authentic Bavarian food, world famous German beer, and plenty of singing. Each tent specializes in a different type of lager so make sure to try a few different tents. 

If you are looking to spend the day exploring Munich, we will have organized 2 times for a private group with the famous Munich Bike Tour. One tour will depart in the morning and the other in the evening. Due to the festival, you will need to book this add-on with us prior to the tour. Other places to see while in Munich include the Dachau Concentration Camp, Deutches Museum, Munich Zoo, Olympic Park, and the BMW Museum. Consult your Bus2alps Oktoberfest Informational Guide for how to visit each site. If you plan to attend the festival afterwards, we recommend getting there no later than 15:00 - 16:00 in order to guarantee entrance into a beer tent. If you are not able to enter a tent, there are plenty of beer gardens to hang out and enjoy the weather until they resume entrance into the tents.

The night is yours to explore. Most of the festival shuts down between 22:30 and 23:00. Munich has a diverse nightlife, so if you have the energy, it is worth checking out Munich’s bars and night clubs. If you find yourself rundown, the free bar at the Stoke campsite is a great place to end your day at the festival

Day 3

Saturday is the busiest day at the Oktoberfest. It is recommended to arrive at the festival before 8:00 to ensure yourself a spot in the most popular tents. We will organize an early departure time for you accompany your guide to the festival. Consult you Bus2alps Trip Leader and Oktoberfest Informational Guide for which tents are the most popular. If you arrive late and are not able to enter the tents, it is recommended to grab a spot in the beer garden until they start allowing more people to enter the tent.

If you are looking to spend the day exploring Munich, we will have organized 2 times for a private group with the famous Munich Bike Tour. One tour will depart in the morning and the other in the evening. Due to the festival, you will need to book this add-on with us prior to the tour. Bus2alps also suggests going to the Dachau Concentration Camp, Deutches Museum, BMW Museum, Olympic Park, and Munich Zoo. If you are interested in a day trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle, Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, it is possible to organize a private trip based on the group size. The night is yours to explore. Most of the festival shuts down between 22:30 and 23:00. Munich has a diverse nightlife, so if you have the energy, it is worth checking out Munich’s bars and night clubs. If you find yourself rundown, the free bar at the Stoke campsite is a great place to end your day at the festival.

Day 4

Sunday you will have time to explore Munich, or to head back for one more day of partying at the Theresienwiese. There is enough time if you wake up early to head out to Dachau, or check out any of Munich’s great museums. Consult your Bus2alps Informational Guide about how to reach each site. Sunday will be no problem obtaining entrance into the beer tents at the Oktoberfest. Departure is at 13:00*. Please meet at the main entrance to the campsite at 12:30. Estimated drive time is 12 hours**. We make one 45 minute stop for dinner. The trip returns to Rome at approximately 1:00*.

Oktoberfest: The largest beer festival in the entire world takes place in Theresienweise, a massive field that is converted into rows of large beer tents, jolting carnival rides, carnival games, food stands, and downright fun.

Munich Bike Tour: 20 Euro - Hailed by travelers as the best bike tour in Europe, Mikes Bike Tour is the ideal way to cover all of the major city sights be entertained and learn about the city. Stops on the bike tour include, Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, English Gardens, Chinese Tower, Surfer’s Bridge, and Bavarian Parliament.

Dachau Concentration Camp: Free admission - Located a 20 minute ride on the train from downtown Munich, this humbling experience brings into perspective the atrocities that occured during Nazi rule in World War II. Open 9:00 - 17:00.

Deutsches Museum: 8.50 Euro - This interactive museum is the largest technological museum of its kind and is known for its historic artifacts that mark important steps in the field of science and technology. Open 9:00 - 17:00.

BMW Museum: 12 Euro - The museum’s exhibitions, remodeled every few years, takes visitors into the motoring world of yesterday. Almost every vehicle produced by BMW is represented. The section devoted to the present day includes both BMW’s current models, as well as demonstrations of modern production methods. Open 10:00 - 18:00.

Neuschwanstein Castle Day Trip: from 45 Euro - Located in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, this beautiful castle became Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. It is only possible to enter the castle on a guided tour. The location also hosts an Alpine Sledding track.

Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel to Munich is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and toilet. We play DVDs through the duration of the trip. We make one 45 minute stop. Estimated travel time is 8 hours**. We will arrive in Munich at approximately 8:00*. Upon arrival in Munich we will drop our luggage in our designated room. We will check into the hostel in the afternoon. Our accommodation has a private room for our group to leave our luggage until check-in.

 

Day 2

Please meet at the main entrance to the campsite at 15:30. Estimated drive time is 8 hours**. We make one 45 minute stop for dinner. The trip returns to Florence at approximately midnight*.
