Route (Fly From Anywhere - Istanbul - Kusadasi - Syros - Mykonos - Santorini)
Note: All transportation and accommodation is included in this tour. Please refer to each day to see what additional activities and meals are included and are option. Ferry schedules in Greece and Turkey are not confirmed for 2013 until January 1, 2013. All listed ferry times are subject to change.
This tour meets at Cengo Hostel in Istanbul at 9:00am. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to the tour. It is recommended to arrive in Istanbul the night before the tour. A Bus2alps trip leader will be in Istanbul the day prior to assist those arriving early. After getting everyone checked in, we will set out to explore with a local guide. Walk along Istanbul’s historic streets with awe as you discover architectural masterpieces of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Among the many sites our local guru will show us, are the Blue Mosque, Haggia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Spice Market. While it is free to enter the Blue Mosque, entrance into the Haggia Sophia and Topkapi Palace is optional and at your own expense.
After a full day of exploring, you’ll be ready to feast on Turkey’s delicious food. Join your Bus2alps trip leader for a traditional Turkish dinner later in the evening. Turkish cuisine is often rich and savory, not particularly spicy, and consists of many vegetables. It is recognized as one of the three richest and oldest cooking traditions in the world, alongside French and Chinese cooking. For a real taste of Turkey, be sure to try a lamb sis kebab. Tonight we will have our Welcome Dinner at a traditional Turkish restaurant.

Get ready to say goodbye to Europe and hello to Asia while spending the day on a Bosphorus Cruise to the Black Sea and this neighboring continent. Commonly known as the Istanbul Strait, the Bosphorus forms part of the boundaries between Europe and Asia. Included in your day is lunch, snacks, and entrance into various sights along the way. Our first stop of the day is Ortaköy Mosque, followed by Beylerbeyi Palace and then the Rumeli Fortress. After some time for lunch on board, we will make one last stop in the small village of Poyrazköy. We will arrive back to port in Istanbul at approximately 17.45.
On Saturday night there will be an optional pub crawl for anyone looking to experience the wild side of Istanbul’s nightlife. The pub crawl begins at 20:30 at Sultanahmet where we will enjoy drinks and free Hookah before hitting up some of the best bars and clubs in the city.

Today we depart for the coastal town of Izmir at 9:00am. Travel time to Kusadasi is approximately 8 hours. Kusadasi is a bustling beach and resort town with beautiful beaches and rich history. Once in Kusadasi we will have a short orientation tour of the area. Tonight there will be an option for dinner and drinks.
Today we will have an orientation tour of the city. There will be optional opportunities to go to the bustling town of Izmir for the day, to visit the ancient ruins near Kusadasi, or to hang out on the beach.

We will depart in the morning for the Greek Island of Samos. Ferry takes about 2 hours. Once in Samos, we will transfer to our accommodation. Like you will find with all of the Greek Islands, Samos is home to many options to see the sights, whether you want to travel via motorbike, ATV, scooter, or on foot. There is a beautiful costal walking path where you can take in all of the beauty of this island.
Today we will depart for the island of Syros. Syros is a laid back and off-the-beaten path destination, despite it being the capital of the famous Cyclades Islands. With iconic blue and white houses, and beautiful beaches, this will be a great time to really explore quintessential Greek Island culture.

You will have most of the day to explore Syros. Since it is off the tourist path, you will find most Greeks engaging in a typical island life. This is your opportunity to really learn Grecian life and values. Syros can be enjoyed on foot or by bicycle. We will depart in the afternoon for Mykonos. Ferry time to Mykonos will be approximately 2 hours. Once we arrive in Mykonos we will transfer to our accommodation and check in. Mykonos is one of Greece’s most popular and known islands. Aside from its beauty, Mykonos is home to world famous nightlife, including beachside clubs. Tonight we will have an optional group dinner, followed by entrance into one of the many pulsing clubs.

Mykonos is famous for its beautiful beaches tranquil beaches, and most of all tons of Greek Island charm. Activities are bountiful here, with bike paths, scooter rentals, and ATV exploration. If you would like to rest off the night before, there are plenty of beaches to find repose. Mykonos is famous for their cliffside windmills, whitewashed houses, and beautiful sunsets. Or, you can get crazy and take a scooter and beach hop. Tonight we will head out to another big night at one of the pulsing clubs.
You will have the morning to enjoy Mykonos before we set sail for the island of Santorini. Once we arrive in Santorini we will transfer to our accommodation in the center of the main city of Thira. We will meet in the early evening to head to the town city center to watch an unforgettable sunset. Afterwards you are free for dinner and to join us at one of the bustling clubs in the Thira city center.
Today you are free to explore the beauty of Santorini. We recommend renting a scooter or ATV to better explore all of the small villages and the landscape of the island of Santorini. There will be an island tour by bus that will bring you to the Red and Black beaches, a winery, and Oia. We will organize for everyone to make it to Oia for sunset (Oia is rated as one of the top places in the world for sunset). Afterwards you are free for dinner and to join us at one of the bustling clubs in the Thira city center.

Today we will depart Santorini for Crete. In the morning we will partake in the Caldera and Hot Spring Tours. The Caldera tour visits the extinct volcano located in the bay between Santorini and its nearby islands. We will arrive in Ios in the evening and check into our accommodation. Crete is Greece’s largest and most well-known island, and allegedly would win a beauty contest of all Greek Islands (though everywhere else we have gone could be said the same).

Crete is rich in history due to its historical and geographic location in the Aegean. We will take a tour of the island today in order to visit its main historical sites and the beautiful Samara Gorge. You will have the afternoon to enjoy the rest of the island at your leisure.

You will have the morning free to explore Crete at our leisure. We will depart today for Athens. The ferry trip to Athens will take about 8 hours. We will arrive in Athens in the evening and transfer to our accommodation.
After breakfast we will embark on a private walking tour of Athens’ main historical sites including the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus and Parliament. After the tour you will have some time to return to our accommodation and relax. We will meet in the evening for our farewell dinner. Dinner is at a local Greek Taverna where Bus2alps has been going for years. Dinner will include several traditional Greek appetizers, entrees and Greek wine. Afterwards the night is free to head back early to our accommodation or join us at a traditional Greek hookah bar / night club.
