Stroll back through history to a time of Roman Gladiators. Discover Tarragona’s spectacular Roman amphitheatre and take a leisurely walk past the beautiful cathedral of the town’s Old Quarter. Enjoy a quick afternoon stop in Roc de Sant Gaieta, a picturesque fishing village with old Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Finally, spend the afternoon lounging on the beaches of Sitges or hopping around the town’s many outdoor bars and restaurants.
The trip departs Barcelona from outside the Hard Rock Cafe in Placa Catalunya at 9:00*. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel is by private, luxury coach bus. Estimated travel time to Tarragona is 1.5 hours**.
En route to Tarragona we will stop at the Ponte del Diable, a Roman Aqueduct dating back to the 1st century AD. After some time to take a few photos, we will hop back on the bus to Tarragona.
We will arrive in Tarragona at approximately 11:00*. Your Bus2alps trip leader will guide the way to the the famous Roman amphitheatre and the Roman Circus. Entrance to the Roman Circus is included. From there you are free to to explore the town’s Old Quarter and the Santa Maria Cathedral, as well as grab lunch in the center of town around Place De La Font. Here you will a find a large variety of restaurants as well as the neoclassical City Hall.
At 14:00* we will meet back at the bus and travel onwards to Roc de Sant Gaieta, arriving at approximately 14:30*. You will have roughly 30 minutes to explore this picturesque fishing village and its ageless Romanesque and Gothic architecture before continuing onward to Sitges at 15:00*.
We will arrive in Sitges at approximately 15:30*. The rest of the day is yours to lay out on the beach or grab a cocktail at one of the many outdoor bars and restaurants. Departure from Sitges is at 18:30*. We will return to Placa Catalunya in Barcelona shortly after 19:00*.
