The trip departs Rome from Termini Station. Meeting point is in front of the Nike Store. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel to Naples is by private, luxury coach bus with A/C, DVD, and bathroom.
Our bus drops off in the historic center of the city at Teatro San Carlo, a great jumping off point to explore Naples. Once we arrive, you are free to investigate everything this unique city has to offer. Your trip leader will point you in the direction of all the major sites in Naples. With its one of a kind character, Naples is the epitome of stereotypical Italian culture.
Let the enormity of Piazza del Plebiscito envelope you. Stroll along the Bay of Naples and watch the waves break against the rocks, visiting Castel dell’Ovo and the medieval Castelnuovo along the way. Then head up to Spaccanapoli, the beautiful main street of old town Napoli. From here you can check out the National Museum of Archeology, home to many antiquities, most notably from the Pompeii, or the Neapolitan National Gallery. No trip to Naples is complete without enjoying a fantastic “Pizza Margherita.” Naples is the proclaimed inventor of pizza. Enjoy an included lunch at Fratelli Medina, a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria. Sample delicious fried appetizers while you await your pizza served Neapolitan style with fluffy dough and ricotta in the crust. Combined with the friendly Italian staff, you'll walk away with the full Naples dining experience. If you want to get some shopping done, located near Piazza del Plebiscito is the Gallery Umberto I, loaded with high end designer shops.
After a few hours in Naples, we depart for Pompeii. Bus2alps has an optional 1 hour guided tour of the ruins (not included). The guides do an amazing job of painting an excellent picture of life in Pompeii during the Roman era in a fun and relatable way. The guided tour is highly recommended. You can also enter without a guide and see the ruins on your own. After we suggest eating at our favorite spot, Pompeii Pizza, for a delicious brick oven cooked pizza at a great price. We depart Pompeii in the evening to return to Rome
