This is also know as the Starkbierzeit, which is German for "strong beer festival." Breweries bring out their mostt potent beverages, and beer halls throw noisy parties with lots of Bavarian entertainment and food. It's Oktoberfest's handsome little brother, and without the tourists.

This tour meets at our accommodation on Thursday evening. Your Bus2alps guide will be at the hostel to help check you in between the hours of 16:00 and 22:00. Luggage storage will be available for those of you arriving before 16:00. For those of you arriving after 22:00, you can check in at the reception desk and pick up your Bus2alps Welcome Package there. Detailed information regarding your trip, including directions from the airport(s) to the accommodation, will be emailed to you in the days leading up to your departure for Munich. For those of you that wish to reserve a shuttle service from the airport to the hostel, this tour includes an optional transport add-on, available at the time of booking. For those of you who arrive earlier in the evening, your trip leader will assist you with dinner spots and nightlife options.
Friday we have our included Bike Tour of Munich. Meet your trip leader in the lobby of our accommodation for the bike tour. The Munich Bike tour is the best way to see the entirety of Munich, and their International guides are some of the best in Europe. This easy, flat bike tour takes in ALL the historical and cultural landmarks in central Munich while providing a fantastic Bavarian history lesson. There will be a stop for lunch at The Chinese Tower in The English Garden and finishes at the world reowned Hofbrauhaus. The bike tour lasts approximately 3.5 hours.
The afternoon is free to head out to some of Munich’s museums and attractions like the Dachau Memorial, Olympic Park and BMW World (situated next to each other), the amazing Deutches Museum or to the Theriesenweiss, the site of the Springfest. Depending on your speed, it will take roughly 3 hours of your day to visit each activity. Plan accordingly if you expect to spend the better part of your evening at the festival.
Those interested in going to the beer festival in the afternoon, we will meet at 17:00 in hostel reception and head over for the party. The festival finishes for the night around 22:30-23:00. If you choose to not attend the festival, you can check out Munich’s famous beerhalls and great nightclubs. A great after festival club spot to check out is Kultfabrik that has over 40 bars and clubs in a converted warehouse area.
Saturday is free to explore Munich at your leisure, recovering from the previous night’s activities by lounging in one of Munich’s beautiful parks, or checking out sites like Dachau, the Deutches Museum Olympic Park, or BMW World. If you are interested in taking a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, we will offer a private tour.
Those of you looking for a good meal away from the festival atmosphere, Bus2alps recommends checking out the Augustiner Braustuben, located a five minute walk from the hostel.

Check out is at 10:00am. If your flight departs later in the day you will be able to store your luggage in the hostel. Sunday is a free day to visit any of the sites you missed over the weekend.

Munich Bike Tour: Hailed by travelers as the best bike tour in Europe, Munich’s Bike Tour is the ideal way to cover all of the major city sights be entertained and learn about the city. Stops on the bike tour include, Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, English Gardens, Chinese Tower, Surfer’s Bridge, and Bavarian Parliament.
Dachau Concentration Camp: Located a 20 minute ride on the train from downtown Munich, this humbling experience brings into perspective the atrocities that occured during Nazi rule in World War II. Open 9:00 - 17:00.
Deutsches Museum: This interactive museum is the largest technological museum of its kind and is known for its historic artifacts that mark important steps in the field of science and technology. Open 9:00 - 17:00.
BMW Museum: The museum’s exhibitions, remodeled every few years, takes visitors into the motoring world of yesterday. Open 10:00 - 18:00.
Neuschwanstein Castle Day Trip: Located in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, this beautiful castle became Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. It is only possible to enter the castle on a guided tour. The location also hosts an Alpine Sledding track.
