Vatican Museums

A brief stroll through the essential elements of Vatican City, amidst striking beauty and some of the most influential art and architecture in Western Civilisation, culminating in the Sistine Chapel and the world’s largest Church, built over the tomb of the Apostle Peter. We meet just a few blocks from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. By not pre-purchasing tickets, we are able to keep the price of the tour to a bare minimum. Our strategic start time allows us to enter between the two great daily influxes, which helps limit the time standing in line to usually just a few minutes. Remember, though, that this is one of the most popular sites in the world, with about 6 million visitors each year. But no worries – in case of longer than usual wait times, your clever guide will entertain you with saucy tales of Popes and Princes. And if you’re especially good, he may even give you some insider tips on where to eat, drink, and be merry, getting more and paying less!
Sites included:Highlights include the ancient sculptures of the Laocöon, the Apollo Belvedere, and the Belvedere Torso; tapestries designed by Raphael, the spectacular Gallery of Maps; frescoes by Il Perugino, Pinturicchio, Botticelli, and of course the ceiling of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel; Bernini’s Baldachino and Michelangelo’s Pietà in St. Peter’s Basilica

· Knees and shoulders covered (ladies and gents). If you wear your tennis shorts and tank tops, you will not be permitted to enter. There are no exceptions, and no refunds.
· Leave your rucksacks and large umbrellas at the hotel. If you bring them, you will be required to check them, which means a mile walk after the tour to go and retrieve them.
Cost: €24, plus €19 for entry and headset or €13 with a valid student I.D. PLEASE try and have 3 euros ready on arrival for the guides to pay for the mandatory headsets that allow you to hear your guide without him/her having to shout.
The Wednesday tour starts early and includes the Papal audience where you will have the chance to see the Pope (Check with guide to make sure the Pope is in town).
Price: €24 (Excluding ticket prices)
