The trip departs Florence from the Santa Maria Novella train station. The meeting point is in the International Ticketing Hall opposite tracks 8 and 9. Please meet your trip leader 30 minutes prior to departure. Travel to The Amalfi Coast is by private, luxury coach bus with A/C, DVD, and bathroom. We make one 45 minute stop. We will arrive late that night. Upon arrival to The Amalfi Coast, we will immediately check into our accommodation.
Friday morning we depart by private boat cruise to Positano. The boat cruise comes with an included lunch and is equipped with a bar to purchase beverages. Your guides will take music requests all morning long. The private boat cruise will stop at two secluded beaches for swimming and photos before ending in colorful Positano for the afternoon.
Once in Positano you will spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach, swimming in the sparkling blue waters, and browsing the many shops of Positano, a town known for its ceramics and lace! It is also possible to rent a boat, kayaks, or stand-up paddle boards while there (availability based on the season & weather). Late in the afternoon our private boat will take you back to your accommodation in Sorrento.
Friday night we organize optional dinners in downtown Sorrento at excellent restaurants with extensive menus of local specialties at great prices.
Saturday morning we depart for the port where we board the ferry and set sail for the Island of Capri. Upon arrival, we begin our private island tour. First stop is the Blue Grotto. If you want to enter the cave, you will be transferred directly from our boat into small row boats that will bring you into the grotto (weather permitting, price not included). We will then continue around the island to check out more sights finishing at Marina Grande. Your trip leader will then walk you up to Capri Town. Our private transport will then bring us further up to Anacapri, the highest part of the island, where we will be welcomed with a free sample of chocolate and limoncello at Carlo's Sandal Shop. You will have the remainder of the afternoon free. We suggest riding the chairlift to the top of Mt. Solaro to get a breathtaking 360 degree view of the island, grabbing a unique pair of custom made sandals, and having a scrumptious lunch at one of the restaurants that your guides can point out to you! You also have the option of checking out the rest of the island or hanging out on the beach down by Marina Grande. The ferry departs from Marina Grande.
Saturday night you have free to yourself to either kick back at your accommodation or head into Sorrento.
Sunday morning we depart for Pompeii and Vesuvius. We arrive at Vesuvius where you will have the option to climb to the very top for an amazing view of the Bay of Naples. We will then depart for Pompeii where we recommend eating before starting the professional guided tour of the ruins. At Pompeii, Bus2alps will organize an optional professionally guided 1 hour tour of the ruins (price not included). The guides paint an excellent picture of Pompeii life during the Roman era. You also have the option to enter without a guide and see the ruins at your own pace. After touring Pompeii we depart late afternoon to return to Sorrento.
If you decide not to join us in Pompeii and Vesuvius, you are welcome to spend the day exploring Sorrento or hanging out on the beach. You will have the evening free to head into Sorrento city center or hang out at the hostel.
Monday morning we will have breakfast, check out, and depart for Naples. In Naples, the birthplace of pizza, you will have a couple hours to explore this truly Italian city. Visit the beautiful Piazza Plebiscito, stroll along the Bay of Naples, and grab an authentic Margherita pizza. We depart Naples early afternoon to return to Florence. We arrive back in Florence later that evening.
