Hit the best spots in Italy and beautiful Spain on this can't miss 10 day trip!  First head south to Italy’s #1 beach destination. Boat around the Island of Capri, sip limoncello, and show off your new handmade sandals before breaking out your best dance moves in bustling downtown Sorrento. Bronze in Positano on the black sand beach and cruise along the coast. Finally, explore the ruins of Pompeii while admiring Mt. Vesuvius. Learn the art of talking with your hands, experience the delight of perfectly cooked pasta and live the passion of Renaissance Art in the home of one of history's most renowned empires.  Then surrender yourself to Barcelona, home to ecclectic culture where passionate nightlife, unique architecture, and delicious tapas all come together. It's culturally diverse with works of art by Gaudi, Picasso, and Dali. Barcelona is also a modern metropolis with performances by Tiesto, Guetta, and Armin van Buuren. Whether you want to spend time relaxing on the beach or by getting caught up in the bustling city life, you'll never forget Barcelona's rare blend of modernity, old Spanish tradition, and Catalan roots.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

The trip departs from Rome Termini Train Station at 20:00 on Thursday. Travel to the Amalfi Coast is by private, luxury coach bus with A/C, DVD, and bathroom. Upon arrival to the Amalfi Coast, we will immediately check into our accommodation.

Day 2

Friday morning we depart for the port where we board the ferry and set sail for Capri. Upon arrival, we begin our private island tour. First stop is the Blue Grotto, where you will be transferred directly from our boat into small row boats that will bring you into the grotto (weather permitting). We will then continue around the island to check out more sights finishing at Marina Grande. Your trip leader will then walk you up to Capri Town. Our private transport will then bring us further up to Anacapri, the highest part of the island, where we will be welcomed with a free chocolate and limoncello tasting. You will have the remainder of the afternoon free. We suggest riding the chairlift to the top of Mt. Solaro to get a breathtaking 360 degree view of the island, grabbing a unique pair of custom made sandals, and having a scrumptious lunch at Bus2alps’ favorite place in Anacapri, Le Arcate. You also have the option of checking out the rest of the island or hanging out on the beach down by Marina Grande. The ferry departs from Marina Grande.

Friday night we organize an optional dinner in Sorrento city center, at an excellent restaurant with an extensive menu of local specialties at great prices. Afterwards we can head down to the English Inn, an outdoor beer garden with drinks specials for Bus2alps members.

Day 3

Friday morning we depart by private bus to Positano (included). This spectacular, scenic drive hugs the coastline before depositing us in the beachtown of Positano. Once in Positano, your Bus2alps trip leader will point out Vini e Panini for sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, in addition to other good places to eat. You will then have the entire day to relax on the black sand beach, swim in the sparkling blue waters, and browse the many shops of Positano, known for ceramics and lace! It is also possible to rent a boat, kayaks, or stand-up paddle boards while there. From Positano you can venture further along the coast to the town of Amalfi. Our private bus will take you directly back to our accommodation.

Saturday night you have free to yourself to either kick back at one of the scenic viewpoints at your accommodation or head into Sorrento.

Day 4

Sunday morning we depart for Pompeii. Bus2alps has an optional 1.5 hour guided tour of the ruins. The guides do an amazing job of painting an excellent picture of life in Pompeii during the Roman era in a fun and relatable way. The guided tour is highly recommended. You can also enter without a guide and see the ruins on your own. There will also be enough time for lunch. We suggest eating at our favorite spot, Pompeii Pizza, for a delicious brick oven cooked pizza at a great price. We depart Pompeii to return to the Rome.

We will start the evening with a ‘Welcome to Italy’ dinner in Rome. Afterwards we will head to Trastevere and Campo de Fiori, two of Rome’s most popular areas for nightlife.

Day 5

We will start Monday at the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica.  Afterwards you will then have the chance to go see the Colosseum and the Roman Forum at an optional cost. Then you are free to further explore Rome, the capital of history’s most influential empire. Consult your Bus2alps trip leader for suggestions as to where to go and how to see it. Other sights in Rome include The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and Piazza Navona.

That night you are free to explore the culinary treats Rome has to offer. Ask your Bus2alps Trip Leader for the best recommendations for food and nightlife depending on your taste!

Day 6

On Tuesday you will have the afternoon to explore Rome.  Check out some of the city's famous muesums or ask your Bus2alps trip leader for other suggestions.  Tuesday morning is the time to check out any of the sites you missed on Monday.

In the evening we will depart Rome for Florence.  After we check into our accommodation there will be an optional family-style dinner at our favorite restaurant Il Gatto e la Volpe. The dinner includes several courses of Tuscan specialties and pastas. Afterwards we will head to one of Florence’s best bars and show you the local nightlife.

Day 7

In the morning your trip leader will give you a walking tour of Florence. We will see the Duomo, the historic Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, Piazza Repubblica, Piazza Signoria, and more! We will finish the tour in Piazza Signoria and your trip leader will direct you to some delicious lunch spots. You will have the rest of the day free to explore more of Florence’s endless beauty. Today you will be able to check out Florence’s great museums and galleries, like the Uffizi, Bargello, Accademia (home of the David), Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and more. Refer to your trip leader for recommendations and how to visit. 

On Wednesday evening your trip leader will take you to Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset, which offers the best view of the city, and great gelato.

Day 8

You will have all morning and afternoon to explore more of Florence's rich history. You can also head to Tuscany to visit the medieval city of Siena, push over the Leaning Tower of Pisa, visit Lucca, or other beautiful cities in the region. 

At night the trip departs Florence from the Santa Maria Novella train station. The meeting point is in the International Ticketing Hall opposite tracks 8 and 9. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Make sure to bring your passport and have it with you on the bus, as we will be driving through border control. Travel to Barcelona is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and bathroom. We make one 45 minute stop. Upon arrival to Barcelona, we will check into our accommodation.

Day 9

Friday morning, after some breakfast, we will head out on an included walking tour of Barcelona. The walking tour will cover some of Barcelona’s most amazing sites throughout the various neighborhoods of the city. After the walking tour, your day is free to explore one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Your trip leader will inform you about how you can visit Sagrada Familia, one of the many museums, how to get to the beach or hang out in one of Barcelona’s famous districts.

Later in the evening, we will head out to show you the VIP side of Barcelona’s famous nightlife. The night will consist of stops at Barcelona’s popular bars, ending at one of its world-renowned night clubs on the beach.

Day 10

Saturday is free to explore the Catalan capital and the sites that you did not get to visit on Friday. Depending on the weekend, there will be optional day trips organized by Bus2alps. Your trip leader will be available to take you to Gaudi’s Park Güell for the best views of the city. Afterward, your trip leader will inform you as to how to get to Barcelona’s top sites, including the Olympic Village, the Picasso Museum, and the beach.

The night is yours to check out Barcelona’s amazing nightlife. Talk to your trip leader for suggestions for the best restaurants, bars, and clubs.

Day 11

The trip ends on Sunday morning and you may store your luggage in the accommodation until departure.  This package includes bus transporation back to Florence where you will return on Sunday night.  If you would like transportation back to Rome, or if you would like to end the trip in Barcelona, please contact [email protected] with your request.

  • Capri Ferry and Island Tour: We take a ferry to the island of Capri. Once we arrive to Capri, our private boats take us on tour around the island, stopping at the Blue Grotto (entrance not included), and other sites, including Marina Grande, Faraglione, White Grotto and Green Grotto.
  • Limoncello Tasting & Sandal Shop: There are two shops in Anacapri that produce amazing custom sandals and make their own Limoncello and lemon chocolates. Custom sandals start at 40€.
  • Positano Transport: Our private bus transports you to Positano, a beautiful drive winding along the ocean.

  • Pompeii Transport: Pompeii is the most preserved ancient Roman civilization. You will be transported there by our private bus.

Optional Activities

  • Blue Grotto: Entrance into the site includes row boat ride into one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Europe to experience the fluorescent cave. 
  • Positano Water Activities: It is possible to rent a boat, go sea kayaking, rent stand-up paddle boards, purchase floaties, and more while on Positano's beaches. Availability based on the season & weather.
  • Pompeii Guided Tour: Bus2alps has been using the same guides for years now. They give a fantastic account of the city and make it relatable.
  • Mt. Solaro: From Anacapri you can take a chairlift to the top of the island for the best views of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius.
  • Florence Family Style Dinner: Sit down in an old Tuscan building and feast on traditional Tuscan appetizers, several different pasta dishes, and unlimited wine and water.
  • Cathedral and Vatican Entry Ticket: See the gems of the Vatican City, the world’s smallest country, and the head of the Catholic Church. Learn about the popes, the history of the Church, and visit the incredible art that the Vatican has collected.
  • Tours, Museums, Day Trip: Italy is known for its Renaissance Art, Ancient History, and amazing sights. Consult you trip leader or informational guide for information on how to join any optional tours and day trips. Museum, gallery, and day trip prices vary.
  • La Sagrada Familia: Visit the beautiful cathedral designed by Spain's most famous architect, Antoni Gadui. 
  • Parc Guell: The most picturesque park in Barcelona with beautiufl views and the famous mosaic terrace.
