The trip departs Florence from the Santa Maria Novella train station. The meeting point is in the International Ticketing Hall opposite tracks 8 and 9. Please meet your trip leader 20 minutes prior to departure. Travel to Munich is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and toilet. We play DVDs through the duration of the trip. We make one 45 minute stop. Upon arrival to Munich, we will immediately check into our campsite.

Day 2

Friday morning the insanity starts. We highly recommend heading to the grounds where the festival is held called the Theresienwiese. The campsite provides 2 - 3 free daily shuttles to the festival grounds in the morning, and 2 - 3 return shuttles at night. Those of you interested in heading to the festival as a group, meet your Trip Leader at the entrance to the campsite at 10:00. Oktoberfest is a giant festival, with rides, games, and beer tents. There are 14 tents of varying sizes. Tent capacities range from 1,000 to 10,000 people. Your Bus2alps Trip Leader will bring you to the Hofbrau tent, one of the most popular tents at the festival. Once inside, enjoy authentic Bavarian food, world famous German beer, and plenty of singing. Each tent specializes in a different type of lager so make sure to try a few different tents.

If you are looking to spend the day exploring Munich, we will have organized 2 times for a private group with the famous Munich Bike Tour. On the weekend of September 18th, this bike tour is included. One tour will depart in the morning and the other in the evening. Due to the festival, you will need to book this add-on with us prior to the tour. Other places to see while in Munich include the Dachau Concentration Camp, Deutches Museum, Munich Zoo, Olympic Park, and the BMW Museum. Consult your Bus2alps Oktoberfest Informational Guide for how to visit each site. If you plan to attend the festival afterwards, we recommend getting there no later than 15:00 - 16:00 in order to guarantee entrance into a beer tent. If you are not able to enter a tent, there are plenty of beer gardens to hang out and enjoy the weather until they resume entrance into the tents.

The night is yours to explore. Most of the festival shuts down between 22:30 and 23:00. Munich has a diverse nightlife, so if you have the energy, it is worth checking out Munich’s bars and night clubs. If you find yourself rundown, the free bar at the Stoke campsite is a great place to end your day at the festival.

Day 3

Saturday is the busiest day at Oktoberfest. It is recommended to arrive at the festival before 8:00 to ensure yourself a spot in the most popular tents. We will organize an early departure time for you to accompany your guide to the festival. Consult you Bus2alps Trip Leader and Oktoberfest Informational Guide for which tents are the most popular. If you arrive late and are not able to enter the tents, it is recommended to grab a spot in the beer garden until they start allowing more people to enter the tent.
